I have been using Washi in my paintings since 2015. Washi is a very special material, and there is a big difference in the way acrylic color development, the way paints bleed, and the brushstrokes compared to a base of linen or cotton.

I have spent a lot of time getting used to the unique characteristics of Washi, and I have struggled to find a way to bring these characteristics and the materiality of Washi itself (I feel that the weak and fragile impression of Washi, while at the same time being extremely durable, is similar to that of human existence, and I find this attractive and use it in my work) to fruition in my expression.

This time, in order to preserve the characteristics of the washi to the very end, I often stopped moving my hand, thought about it, and tried not to overpaint. As a result, I think that I departed from my previous paintings, which were mainly one-color backgrounds and creatures with too much matte texture as a result of multiple layers of acrylic
