갤러리조은은 오는 5월 29일부터 6월 21일까지 채지민 작가의 개인전 『압도적인 벽 그리고 불타는 차 (Overwhelming Walls and a Burning Car)』를 개최한다. 채지민의 작품은 단순한 이미지의 재현을 넘어 공간성과 불완전성을 탐구하는 회화로, 현실과 비현실, 평면과 입체의 경계를 모호하게 표현한다. 화면 안의 요소들은 일관된 맥락 없이 배치되어, 아직 사건이 일어나지 않은, 그러나 곧 무언가가 벌어질 것 같은 '직전의 순간'을 포착하며, 보는 이로 하여금 긴장감을 느끼게 한다.

작가는 디지털 도구를 활용하여 삼차원의 공간을 정교하게 계산하고, 이를 이차원 화면으로 전환하여 복합적 구성을 시도한다. 그러나 완벽하게 계산된 공간조차 불안정하고 모호하게 느껴져 시각적 긴장감을 형성한다. 이러한 화면 구성은 현실과 환영 사이를 넘나드는 채지민 회화의 특징을 잘 보여준다.

Gallery Joeun is pleased to present the solo exhibition of artist Chae Ji-min, titled "Overwhelming Walls and a Burning Car", from May 29 to June 21, 2025. CChae Ji-min's works transcend mere image reproduction, exploring spatiality and imperfection through painting. His works blur the boundaries between reality and illusion, as well as between the planar and the three-dimensional, creating ambiguous expressions. The elements within the canvas are arranged without consistent context, capturing a "moment just before" something unfolds—evoking a sense of tension and anticipation.

The artist utilizes digital tools to meticulously calculate three-dimensional spaces, subsequently converting them into two-dimensional compositions. Despite their precise construction, these calculated spaces appear unstable and ambiguous, generating a visual tension that characterizes Chae Ji-min's distinctive approach to painting. This juxtaposition between reality and illusion reveals the complexity inherent in his works.

Through this exhibition, "Overwhelming Walls and a Burning Car", Chae Ji-min presents expansive fields filled with randomly placed structures, figures, and animals, creating ambiguous spaces where reality and illusion intersect.
