나는 빛과 어둠의 경계에 있는 고양이를 그린다. 세상 어느 곳에도 존재하며 우리의 일상에 가장 가까이에 있는 동물, 실제적으로는 따듯한 햇살을 좋아하지만 항상 어둠 속을 해매고 다니는 존재 나는 그 대상에 관심을 갖는다.
도시와 자연의 경계에서 살아가는 이들은 사람들에게 천덕꾸러기와 같은 존재로 인식되며 괴롭힘을 당하거나 가혹한 대우를 받고 있다. 이들은 마땅히 우리 인간과 이 땅에 동등하게 살아갈 수 있는 권리를 가지고 있으며 지구상의 소중한 한 생명이자 공존의 대상이다. 나는 이 사실들을 망각하고 살아가는 우리 현대인들에게 나의 작품을 통해서 알리고자 한다
나는 환경운동가도 아니고 사회에서 대단한 영향력을 갖는 존재도 아니다. 다만 지구상에 살아가는 한명의 인간이자 한명의 예술가로서 내가 할 수 있는 작은 재능으로 ‘공존’이라는 소중한 이야기를 전하고자 한다. 그것도 ‘동네고양이’를 통해서 말이다.

I depict the street cats on the border between light and darkness. They are everywhere in the world and are closest to our daily lives. In reality, they like the warm sunlight, but they always wander in the dark. I am interested in them.
Those who live on the border between city and nature are perceived as outcasts by people and are harassed or treated harshly. They have the right to live on this earth on an equal footing with us humans and are valuable living beings on earth and objects of coexistence. With my work, I want to inform modern people who have forgotten these facts.
I am neither an environmental activist nor a person with great influence in society. But as a human being and an artist living on earth, I want to tell the valuable story of ‘coexistence’ with the little talent I have. And that also through ‘neighbourhood cats’
