김용관은 지금 이곳이 아닌, 어떤 가정—설정—규칙이 구축하는 새로운 시공간을 표현한다. 또한 점, 선, 면, 도형, 패턴, 퍼즐, 탱그램, 테셀레이션, 입방체, 등각투상도, 모듈, 추상, 반추상을 토대로 새로운 이미지와 이야기를 상상하는 것을 좋아한다. 홍익대학교에서 판화를 전공했고, 경기창작센터, 난지미술창작스튜디오, 고양창작스튜디오의 입주작가로 있었다. 《각진원형》(부산시립미술관-어린이갤러리, 부산, 2022), 《폐기된 풍경》(메이크샵아트스페이스, 파주, 2015), 《표본공간, 희망에 의한 기관의 변이》(인사미술공간, 서울, 2013), 《SYLLAVRICK》(경기도미술관-프로젝트갤러리, 안산, 2011), 《시차적 표시영역》(살롱드에이치, 서울, 2010) 등의 개인전과 《두 바퀴 회전》(페리지갤러리, 서울, 2018), 《칸 퍼레이드-깨무는 칸들》(탈영역우정국, 서울, 2018), 《제 3지대 무빙 스페이스》(수원시립아이파크미술관, 수원, 2017), 《12Events for 12Rooms》(서울시립미술관, 서울, 2012), 《SO.S》(The Bus-사루비아다방, 서울, 2007) 등의 기획전에 참여했다.
Yongkwan Kim is an artist who is interested in new time and space created by certain assumptions, settings, and rules, rather than the here and now. He also likes to imagine new images and stories based on points, lines, planes, shapes, patterns, puzzles, tangrams, tessellations, cubes, isometrics, modules, abstraction, and semi-abstraction. He majored in printmaking at Hongik University and was an artist-in-residence at Gyeonggi Creation Center, SeMA Nanji Residency, and Goyang Residency.
