갤러리조은은 오는 10월 10일부터 11월 8일까지 이재현(b.1979)과 타츠히토 호리코시(b.1985)의 2인전 『One Horizon 展』을 개최한다. 이번 전시는 두 작가가 삶의 기억과 청소년기 순수성을 주제로 풀어낸 인물들을 통해, 서로 다른 여정이 하나의 지평에서 교차하는 순간을 보여준다.

 
“이재현, 삶의 기억을 예술로 치환”

이재현(b.1979)은 개인의 기억과 경험을 회화적 언어로 재구성한다. 그의 회화는 과거와 현재를 잇는 시각적 기록으로, 기억의 조각들이 화면 위에 섬세하게 펼쳐진다. 임파스토(Impasto) 기법으로 두텁게 쌓아 올린 붓질과 자유로운 선, 왜곡된 형상은 추상과 구상의 경계를 오가며 쓸쓸함과 긴장감을 드러낸다. 일상에서 포착한 이미지들은 내면과 외부, 타자와의 대화를 통해 서사적 구조를 만들어낸다.
이번 전시에서 새롭게 공개되는 10여점의 신작들은 기존 작품 세계를 이어가면서, 풍부한 배경 속 인물들의 내밀한 순간을 담아낸다. 작가는 기억을 과거 속 한 켠에 묻어두는 대신, 현재의 삶과 함께 겹쳐 혼재시키며 새로운 이야기를 풀어낸다. 이러한 시도는 개인적 경험을 넘어 보편적 정서를 불러일으키며, 마주하는 이의 내면에 조용하지만 강렬한 울림을 전달한다.
1979년생 이재현(Lee Jae-hyun)은 건축과 조각, 순수 회화를 공부한 뒤 다양한 매체와 형태를 아우르며 자신만의 예술세계를 구축해왔다. 현재는 회화를 중심으로 작업 영역을 확장하며, 독창적인 서사를 캔버스 위에 구현하고 있다. 갤러리조은 개인전을 비롯해 화이트스톤 서울 개관전, 국내외 개인전과 두바이, 필리핀, 홍콩, 미국 등 다양한 아트페어에서 활발히 작품을 선보이며 작품 세계를 확장해 나가고 있다.

 
“타츠히토 호리코시, 내면을 그리는 섬세한 시선”

도쿄를 기반으로 활동하는 타츠히토 호리코시는 청소년기의 순수성과 반항정신, 정체성을 특유의 섬세한 조형 언어로 표현한다. 담담한 표정의 소년들이 클래식한 초상화 포즈로 관객 앞에 등장하며, 섬세한 보색 대비와 소묘를 연상시키는 세밀한 붓질, 투명함과 불투명을 오가는 채색법이 작품에 미묘한 뉘앙스를 선사한다.
작가는 전원 속 작업실에서 대부분의 시간을 보내며 고요 속에서 작품을 완성한다. 도시의 소음과 외부 세계와의 접촉이 사라질 때, 그의 상상력은 한층 날카로워지고, 그 속에서 탄생한 작품들은 사적이고 친밀한 분위기를 담아낸다. 작품 속 인물들은 오랜 시간을 품고 있으며, 작가는 이를 대화이자 치유의 과정으로 바라본다. 이러한 세계관은 관람하는 이의 내면에 조용하지만 깊은 울림을 전하며, 감정을 불러일으키는 장치로 작용한다. 그는 이번 전시를 통해 공개되지 않은 9점의 신작을 선보일 예정이다.
타츠히토 호리코시 (Tatshuhito Horikoshi b.1985)는 2020년 홍콩 개인전을 시작으로 파리, 베이징 등에서 개인전을 이어오며 전 세계에서 활발히 작품 활동을 이어왔다. 한국에서는 2023년 KIAF Seoul에서 갤러리조은을 통해 전 작품이 솔드아웃되며 성공적인 데뷔를 치렀고, 도쿄와 뉴욕 등 주요 미술 거점에서도 활동하며 자신만의 미술 세계를 확장하고 있으며, 일본 Mr. I 컬렉션, 스위스 장 피고치 컬렉션(Pigozzi Collection)에 작품이 소장되어 있다

This exhibition showcases figures portrayed by both artists through the lens of personal memories and the innocence of adolescence, offering a moment where two different artistic journeys intersect on one horizon.

"Lee Jae-hyun: Transforming Life's Memories into Art"

Lee Jae-hyun (b.1979) reconstructs personal memories and experiences through a painterly language. His paintings act as visual records that connect the past and present, with fragments of memory delicately unfolding across the canvas. Using the impasto technique with thick brushstrokes, free lines, and distorted forms, his work oscillates between abstraction and figuration, evoking a sense of solitude and tension.
Images captured from daily life form narrative structures through dialogue between inner and outer worlds, as well as with others.

In this exhibition, Lee presents over 10 new works that continue his artistic practice while depicting intimate moments of figures set against richly detailed backgrounds. Rather than burying memories in the past, the artist overlays them with present-day life, weaving new stories. This approach transcends the personal to evoke universal emotions, resonating deeply yet quietly with viewers.

Born in 1979, Lee Jae-hyun studied architecture, sculpture, and fine art, building a unique artistic world that spans various media and forms. He currently focuses on painting, expanding his practice by creating original narratives on canvas. He has exhibited in solo shows at Gallery Joeun, participated in the opening exhibition of Whitestone Gallery Seoul, and actively presented work in art fairs across Dubai, the Philippines, Hong Kong, the U.S., and more.

"Tatsuhito Horikoshi: A Delicate Gaze Toward the Inner World"

Based in Tokyo, Tatsuhito Horikoshi expresses the purity, rebelliousness, and identity of adolescence through his own delicate visual language. His works depict boys with calm expressions posed in classical portrait styles, rendered with subtle complementary color contrasts, intricate brushwork reminiscent of sketches, and a painting technique that shifts between transparency and opacity to create nuanced atmospheres.

Spending most of his time in a countryside studio, the artist creates in solitude. Once the noise of the city and contact with the outside world fades, his imagination sharpens, and the resulting artworks embody a private, intimate atmosphere. The figures in his paintings seem to carry the weight of time, and the artist views the act of painting as both a conversation and a process of healing. His worldview delivers a quiet yet profound resonance to viewers, functioning as an emotional trigger.

Horikoshi will present 9 new, previously unreleased works in this exhibition.

Tatsuhito Horikoshi (b.1985) began gaining international attention with a solo show in Hong Kong in 2020, followed by exhibitions in Paris, Beijing, and more. He made a successful debut in Korea at KIAF Seoul 2023, where all his works exhibited by Gallery Joeun sold out. He continues to expand his artistic presence in major art hubs such as Tokyo and New York. His works are part of the Mr. I Collection in Japan and the Jean Pigozzi Collection in Switzerland.
